I just received my order from Gerrman Deli. Among other things I ordered the "Mohrenkoepfe" and as they warned us they may not arrive in perfect condition. The first row in the box was damaged but I am not fretting about it. I look at it this way "it is the best excuse for not having to offer any to my friends". Oh, how gratifying that first bite is. Pure ecstacy!!!!! I will be ordering more and for all I care let them all be imperfect so there will be more for myself.

Oh, oh, oh and ahhh, was this ever so fine and good!! I thought I had died and gone to heaven and was nibling on some fresh clouds up there, chocolate covered of course! My shipment arrived in perfect condition, only one of the Kopfe was somewhat cracked, just the chocolate crust and only on the bottom, the others all were in PERFECT condition. And did we ever enjoy them, we stretched this paradise food out for a full 14 says, by enjoying one each whenever we needed an ecstaticly delicious experience! - Mmm, was thaat ever so fine. My friend had never had anything like this before he said after the first testing bit; - it was priceless to watch him enjoying this, right from the time he made the boyish suggestion: Sweetie, how about we linger over one of them "whatshemacallids",-- chocolate covered foam heads or something like that, you know those chocolate covered foam heads? His eyes light up like a schoolboy as I agreed of cause, okay yes why not. Then he almost ran (70yrs old with bad knees and back) to the fridge to bring out the package and carry it real careful to my bedroom (where I am bedridden for a several years now with some nasty disease) and handed the box to me. He never taken his eyes of my actions, as I unwrapped the cling wrap I had the box wrappend into to keep em fresh. I then ask, do you want to take your own or want me to hand you one, his eyes light up and he say: please you do a better job.. but.. I don't mind...no it's better if you...well...; I'd hand him the long box and he take it gently, sit down firmly and carefully picked out the biggest - what we call these In Switzerland a Moorenkopf - and hand me the box back just as carefully. His eyes would be shining like a little boy on Christmas who got a red flyer bike. After I picked mine out, the box was resealed and placed on a save sturdy surface, we begin the adventure of licking, nibbling, finger dipping and lipsmacking in between some swooning sounding ahhhh's, mmmmm's, gosh this is so good, never had better, what you say they were called? mmm I can;t talk now. A significant moment of silence would follow while we both would be dipping our finger into the fine foam and lick it in utter contentment and bliss. All too soon the one allowed for the day was eaten, gone, just the wafer remained the rest had disappeared all too quickly, but there was this undeniable heavenly light flavor which remained in the mouth. And oh how I cherished old memories popping up, of walking home from school and stopping at the store debating with myself if the 10 Rappen would be enough, or should I wait another day when I maybe could buy two. And Memories of a friendly comraderie with my mother who always had a 4 pack stashed someplace hidden. Ah yes, those days. I have not had one of what we called Moorenkopfe, of these in nearly 40 years. For just that short time we were children again. Thank you German Deli for making it possible to experience the beginning of a new year with such a heavenly delicacy, and don't you worry about them arriving in good shape, they did, they did.!!
I know they don't always arrive intact, but they taste just as great with cracked coating! 8-)
Yummi, nur Dickmanns sind dicker
Remember the great chocolate covered marshmellow candies. These are great.
Great childhood treat, even though I'm now in my 60s!!
