Recipe for Bratapfel (German-style Baked Apples)

German-style Baked Apples
(Traditional, Nutella and Marzipan Recipes for two apples)

Traditional Bratapfel Recipe
2 honeycrisp apples (or other semi-tart apple variety)
2 Tbl German butter
2 Tsp butter for greasing the baking dish
1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, hazelnuts or your favorite nut)
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional) adjust amount according to your taste
2 Tbl dark or yellow raisins (optional)

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 400°. You will need an Apple Baker. Liberally apply butter inside the Apple Baker so apples don’t stick.

Mix the remaining ingredients together until well combined.

Wash apples & grab a corer. When coring the apples, don’t core through to the bottom. Start at the stem side and core ¾ way down, leaving the bottom 1/4 of the apple intact so that the filling won't run out of the bottom. Scoop out enough apple pulp with corer or spoon so that you have an opening in which to place the filling. Fill the apples with even amounts of filling and place the filled apples in the Apple Baker. Place the lid on the apple baker.

Bake for 30 minutes at 400°. Baking time can be adjusted according to preference. If you would like apple to be harder, reduce baking time. If you would like a softer apple, increase baking time.
