Siegis Ham Shanks (Schweinehaxe)
DescriptionA true German treat. Use your rotisserie or oven to get the classic flavor of juicy pork, encased in crispy skin. This can take 3-4 hours or more, depending on your oven and how many Schweinehaxe you are roasting. It is also a good idea to allow the Schweinehaxe to "rest" for 10 minutes once you remove it from the oven.
Many favorite family recipes do not include roasting. The meat can be boiled or you can cook the meat slowly in the oven smothered with potatoes, sauerkraut, onions, etc.
Uncooked, each piece weighs about 3 pounds. Each Haxe makes a very generous meal for one. Roast or cook the meat until the internal temperature at its thickest point is at least 160ºF.

Amazing product unavailable but at the German Deli. Top quality, flavorful, easy prep/cook following Chef's Video here. Oven Cooked with German Beer, salt n pepper. Always a crowd pleaser presented whole. Each serves Hearty 2 persons.
OMG! I ordered two and they were absolutely outrageous! I swore I would be able to eat the whole thing but was glad to know that I have leftovers it was so good! Followed Chef Uwe's recipe And it came out perfect...so easy! I can't believe the size of these Schweinehaxe and will definitely order more again!
Wonderful quality and cooked exactly as in the video. Meat fell off the bone, the skin perfectly crisp. Will be buying again!
I followed the instrcutions on the video, although I used Lawry's seasoning salt in place of the plain salt. It cam out nice a juicy, crackly skin, fall of the bone meat. The berr carmelized perfectly to make a gravy. I had kraut dumplings and a nice green salad to go with it, just like video and it took me back to Germany. I'll for sure be purchasing more. I can't get these in the local market, Grocery, or the German market here.
I sent this to my mom for a special after Christmas meal. It was so easy to prepare and tasted just like our favorite restaurants in Germany. Don't forget to order the red cabbage, dumplings and gravy. It was like we were back home in Salzgitter.
I'm looking forward to ordering Schweinehaxe from German Deli. I hope that I can replicate how they make it at the Donisl Restaurant located at Marienplatz in Munich. Good stuff!
I would always get this at our favorite German Restaurant but then last year they retired and there is no other restaurant locally. I found this on an internet search and decided to try it. It was heaven! I highly recommend this!
