Ingredients in German

Weizenmehl, Wasser, Ei, Salz, Zitronensäure.

Spätzle pairs well with roasted game or fowl, cornish hen and roasted chicken.

Boiled Spätzle:

Place the (defrosted) Spätzle in boiling water for approximately 1 minute until they rise to the water surface.  Remove from water and serve with your gravy or sauce of choice.

Pan Fried:

Place butter (GermanDeli.com recommends German Butter) or oil in a pan, add the Spätzle and 4-5 tablespoons of water.  Turn the Spätzle while sauteing until they turn a golden brown.

Spätzle with Vegetables:

Toss prepared Spätzle with seasonal vegetables such as: asparagus, heirloom tomatoes, squash or broccoli.

Käsespätzle (Cheese Spätzle):

The most popular version of Spätzle are Käsespätzle or "Spätzle with Cheese".  Saute onions and remove from pan.  Add Spätzle to pan with a touch of butter to taste; saute Spätzle.  Blend in your preferred choice of cheese(s):  Emmentaler is the European favorite; or the American classic Cheddar.  Plate and serve topped with onions.

Easy and so good!

Great Texture. I love that they are made in Germany and you keep them frozen until ready to use. They defrost quickly and all you do is cook them briefly in boiling water. Brilliant!!
